This position is to join Defra Group Fleet Services (DGFS) as a Fleet Team Member supporting the Lease Car transformation portfolio.

We can offer this position up to 30 Hours per week.

DGFS are responsible for ensuring the Environment Agency and wider Defra Group operate the safest, greenest, most cost-effective fleet assets.

We manage both commercial and plant fleet assets, including the procurement and disposal of vehicles, plant, boats, agricultural and construction equipment, and the Servicing, Inspection, Maintenance and Repair (SIMAR) of commercial and plant assets.

We are looking for a motivated, confident, and enthusiastic person to join our team.

Operating under the Lease Car Operating Instruction, you will primarily focus on supporting the operation of our fleet, responding to escalated enquiries and complaints, paying our suppliers, and updating our fleet management database amongst other duties.

We are a supportive and high performing team, who will support your continued learning development.

Responding to incidents is an important part of what we do, and with this in mind you'll have an incident role and should be ready to make yourself available to respond or provide business continuity support.

This may attract an additional payment, and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you.

  • The team
  • DGFS is a national team that provides a collaborative fleet service across the Defra group, we are part of the Strategy, Transformation and Assurance Directorate.
You'll work in the Fleet Hub Team, who are the first point of contact for all services.

The Hub plays an essential role ensuring the fleet management systems work in a smooth and efficient manner and promote continuous improvement throughout DGFS to support fleet initiatives.


  • Experience/skills required
  • You should:
- have experience of gathering, maintaining and quality-assuring data/ information.
- be able to use technology to make your work more efficient
- deliver your work with a focus on quality and attention to detail
- demonstrate good organisational skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities and deliver to tight timescales
- have evidence of effective communication and customers service skills


Highly desirable skills/experience:

  • Understanding the business of the Environment Agency
  • Experience of data integration and automation
  • Experience of continuous improvement methodologies
  • Experience of working in a customer service facing role
This role would suit someone who has a track record of problem solving and continuous improvement work.
