Learning Enhancement and Development (LEaD) supports, develops and influences education at City, University of London.

We contribute to educational strategy, run a Masters in Academic Practice (open to all staff at the University); work with staff to further develop their pedagogic practices; help implement and develop educational technologies and learning spaces; and support students with their academic skills.

We are a multi-skilled service, with professional and academic staff working on a breadth of projects that help staff innovate and improve their educational practice.

Staff from LEaD work closely with academic, student services, and professional service staff to identify areas of development and to work on cross institutional projects to see through these development areas.

The team also run regular events to share good practice, such as an annual conference and researcher's development days.

Staff also horizon-scan and are actively engaged with the wider HE community in order to continually improve our own thinking and practices, and therefore improve the educational experience at City.


Background:


The Digital Education Team in LEaD is responsible for supporting City's approach for using technology for enhancing teaching, learning and assessment and the development of appropriate and engaging learning spaces.

This role is based within the School Liaison part of Digital Education.

The School Liaison teams work closely with academic staff in their Schools, offering tailored advice and support on all aspects of educational technology School Liaison is organised into two Clusters.


The postholder will work in the following cluster:
School of Health and Psychological Sciences, School of Policy and Global Affairs and School of Communication and Creativity


This role will focus on supporting the Senior Educational Technologist and two Educational Technologists with their project, training and problem-solving work.

The role could also involve working with Digital Education Team colleagues in other Digital Education Team sub-teams such as the Operations and the Projects team.


Responsibilities:


  • Assisting with workshops, support (online and inperson), and handson guidance to staff in the learning design, development and management of educational technology resources. There will be a particular focus on the Moodle consistency project work.
  • Attending LEaD and City meetings with and on behalf of Digital Education Team.
  • Liaising with the relevant teams within Digital Education Team and IT where necessary
  • Working with Digital Education Team staff to support innovative and effective practice around educational technologies.
  • Developing awareness of good practice and knowledge and helping to share this with Schools and other professional service areas by building effective relationships, communities of practice and communication channels
  • Participating in the design, development and promotion of training and support materials
  • Helping to facilitate and evaluate group and onetoone staff induction and training sessions
  • Contributing to the promotion, piloting, evaluation, and implementation of educational change projects in line with School, LEaD and University priorities.

Person Specification:


  • Experience of writing official documentation (e.g. minutes, reports and guidance) in a higher education environment
  • Experience of using a Virtual Learning Environment.
  • Experience of attending and participating in formal meetings
Experience of delivering training on a one-to-one or group basis either face-to-face or online

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and presentation skills.
  • Excellent IT skills, including Office 36
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills with the ability to manage and prioritise own work.
  • Good customer service skills with the ability to resolve issues without clear or predefine
