JOB PURPOSE/SUMMARY To work as a member of the Grounds and Gardens team, to maximise efficiency in the delivery of a high quality environment to the Trust.

To maintain the external site areas in a clean and tidy condition. To sweep roads and footpaths, removing debris and litter etc.

Working to standards laid down in Trust policies and legislation to provide a safe and supportive environment for patients, staff and visitors.

Current British Full Drivers Licence Essential Experience/Skills:

Knowledge of Health & Safety, Moving & Handling, COSHH Use of Tools, Machinery & Equipment Ability to Communicate both Verbally & Written Ability to work under own initiative and as part of a team Ability to carry out strenuous physical tasks and work in adverse weather conditions Dedicated to support the development of a high quality service Shows enthusiasm in regard to personal development Pleasant manner, smart clean appearance.

Good time keeping Good organisational skills PRINCIPAL DUTIES & AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY a. Ensure the timely and correct performance of routine and periodic duties. b.

Learn new techniques and undergo training as necessary. c.

Ensure that the post holder maintains a high standard of personal hygiene, and are smart in their appearance and wear the correct form of uniform/protective clothing.

Ensure that all information is collected and recorded in the event of any accident and that appropriate action is taken to prevent any similar occurrences.

e. Keep the manager abreast of matters affecting the delivery of the service and to make recommendations on improvement. f.

Utilise the Works Management System for recording, updating and auditing Estates records. g. Undertake snow clearing, and gritting and other routine winter duties. h.

Liaise with the manager on staff welfare and related problems. i.

Promote good housekeeping to ensure that the external hospital environment is kept clean and tidy ensuring timely removal of any refuse/rubbish including pressure washing and removal of blood, vomit, excreta and discarded hypodermic syringes and needles.

Assist with landscaping, including paving, walling etc. n. Interpret and work from all instructions and drawings o.

Responsible for working with colleagues to maintain and improve the quality of services provided to our patients and other service users.

Ensure that all tasks are carried out in compliance with relevant statutory legislation and local policies and codes of practice including Health and Safety, COSHH and in particular by following agreed safe working procedures, and reporting incidents using the Trust Incident Reporting system.

q. Maintain high standards of personal hygiene and appearance at all times whilst on duty.

The jobholder must take responsibility in agreement with his/her line manager for his/her own personal development and undertake all mandatory training required for the role particularly attending refresher training on an annual basis.

s.

The jobholder must co-operate with all policies and procedures designed to ensure equality of employment and that services are delivered in ways that meet the individual needs of patients and their families.

To complete all relevant daily documentation in compliance with relevant statutory legislation and local codes of practice and quality control procedures.
