Hours:
An average of 8 hours per week.

Variable hours to be agreed mutually in advance.

The hours will include some flexible evening and weekend hours, one full weekend off will be given each month.

About the Job:
We are seeking a personal assistant for an active 9-year-old boy in the Kinmel Bay area. He uses PECS and is also learning Makaton. He will need supervision to ensure his safety.

We are seeking someone to accompany him on trips out, such as swimming, soft play, trampolines, bouncy castles, play areas, walks, etc.


Responsible to:
You will be directly responsible to your employer, the young man's mother


Main Tasks:


To accompany on trips out and about for the benefits of socialisation, to include the activities he enjoys, such as swimming, paddling, soft play, trampolines, bouncy castles, play areas, walks etc.

The activities will be discussed and agreed with family beforehand and will sometimes involve going out on family trips with the young man's mum and brother.

The young man is completely non-verbal (he uses PECS and is learning Makaton) but is very good at showing you what he wants or needs, so patience and good communication skills are required

To provide constant supervision to always ensure his safety, while keeping up with his busy life

Some personal care will be required


Any other duties not mentioned but that fall within the scope of this role should be discussed and then mutually agreed.

Undertake any further training, as mutually agreed


Person Specification:

To have a driving license and access to a vehicle would be advantageous.

Knowledge of PECS and Makaton desirable but can be learned.

Establish a professional standard of care which should be always maintained

Respect and safeguard the goods and property of the family

Respect the privacy of the family and always uphold confidentiality.

Be trustworthy, patient and kind

Be punctual, reliable and have some degree of flexibility, with a view to undertaking extra hours in school holidays

Bear in mind that the role is one of empowerment for the young man
