We are recruiting a HR Advisor & Executive Support, to work alongside our Chief Executive, across a wide range of duties aimed at powering a small business and team.

An all-round fixer and organiser, you'll get satisfaction from getting things done and having a broad range of central responsibilities, sometimes working without close supervision.

You'll have a confident communication style across a range of mediums and a calm, unflappable demeanour. Above all, you'll have a willingness to do what's needed to make everything we do for our people happen.

  • Generalist HR advisory experience and ideally be CIPD level 5 qualified or be working towards this qualification.
  • An ambitious selfstarter with a drive to succeed, a solution focused and proactive approach.
  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills, with the ability to articulate messages to a wide range of audiences.
  • Ability to process large amounts of information quickly, and the ability to manipulate data to create insights and action plans.
  • Strong problemsolving skills, ability to troubleshoot issues and know when to escalate.
  • Ability to organise and take ownership of a diverse workload, prioritise tasks and produce reliable and highquality work to tight deadlines.
  • Ability to follow established processes and identify ways to improve them.
  • Strong attention to detail and an ability to get it right first time.
  • Comfortable working across a wide range of digital tools and able to learn new ones quickly.
  • An open and collaborative approach to facilitate the smooth running of a small team.

Job description for the post of:HR Advisor & Executive support**
Reporting to: Finance Manager

Accountable to:

The Post


To provide, customer-focussed advice and guidance to Managers and the Chief Executive, which support the culture and values of the Student Union.


The role will provide HR advice and executive support to the senior leadership team and will promote a professional and joined-up advice service.


Duties and Responsibilities

Human Resources Advisor

  • Coordinate and lead on the delivery of all HR activities associated with the employment lifecycle for all current and future employees and trustees of the organisation.
  • Administer EHSU's employee rewards programme.
  • Drive the PDR cycle, ensuring a timely and well administered process.
  • To support managers to effectively manage performance and career development plans to enable succession and retention of talent.
  • To provide advice and guidance on informal and formal stages of absence
  • Support the Finance and Payroll assistant in processing payments as directed, including collating information and inputting expenses.
  • Regularly review and make recommendations to HR policies and procedures.
  • Support the recruitment, induction, training and development and evaluation of the Trustee's.
  • Review HR policies to ensure that they are fit for purpose.
  • Provide training on a range of HR policies.
  • Provide data to help inform workforce planning.

Executive support

  • Coordinate and organise the Board annual calendar of meetings and schedule of business.
  • Act as secretary to the Board, coordinating and administering papers, and taking minutes.
  • Coordinate diaries and organise meetings and appointments for the senior leadership team as required.
  • Booking and arranging travel, transport, and accommodation.
  • Organising events and conferences and annual team away day.
  • Coordination of administrative tasks as required.

General

  • To undertake research/development projects as required
  • To attend meetings, conferences, and training events
  • To work flexibly with occasional unsociable hours
  • To abide by EHSU's constitution, procedures, and policies
