Brief Description:

We are recruiting for a Workforce Health, Safety & Environment Advisor here in our Southern Region.


Based at London Blackfriars, you'll promote support a positive cultural and behavioural change in all aspects of workforce health and safety management across the Southern Region.


You'll support and manage Health and Safety Improvement projects for the Region working closely with Route based teams, Regional Health, Safety and Environment teams and Regional functions.


The role will also Implement and manage effective Level 2 Assurance programme to achieve compliance with legislation, Network Rail company standards and Rail Industry Standards on the use of OTP and provide motivation and support for continued improvement in OTP operational standards.


About the role (External):


Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Support the provision of world-class strategic safety& Health vision, culture and leadership across the region, leading on improvement projects.
  • Conduct Level 2 Assurance surveillance activities on management processes for On Track Plant and onsite compliance across the Region to identify good practice and incidents on noncompliance and take appropriate action.
  • Provide support and monitor key metrics for driving continuous improvement, learning and organisation culture change programmes and projects to deliver improvements in the ways of working across the region.
  • Monitor and analyse workforce health & Safety data for trends, produce reports and make recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Identify health & Safety key risks and make recommendations for control measures.
  • Support the implementation of national and regional programmes and initiatives to improve workforce health and safety controls.
  • Promote effective working by communicating good practice and identifying opportunities for innovation through industry research and benchmarking.
  • Provide input to and support the delivery of the regional strategy for health and safety and cultural improvement across the Region.
  • Coordinate and Support regional health, safety improvement initiatives in line with business needs and specific regional requirements.
  • Support the development of cultural behavioural changes required to deliver the Region's health, and safety strategy.

Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications
Essential

  • Knowledge of Network Rail Health and Safety Management System
  • Knowledge of Network Rail Environment Management System
  • Knowledge of maintenance processes and techniques
  • Knowledge of investigations process and techniques
  • NEBOSH Diploma or recognised equivalent qualification
  • Good interpersonal, influencing, communication and organisation skills
Desirable

  • Knowledge of operational railway environment
  • Institute of Environmental Management Award (IEMA)
  • Membership of a relevant professional body

Salary:
Band 3B £44,690 - ££50,276 plus £3,270 Location Allowance

**Remote working opportunity - the role will require working in the offer 2/3 days a week.
