We develop and implement our people policies and processes and support our people to ensure we're all able to fulfil our duties and are supported and engaged in our roles.


Our people business partners work with teams, managers and key stakeholders to help build organisation and people capability, and shape and implement effective people strategies and activities within the organisation.

They have an excellent understanding of the organisation, its strategy and customers, and a very good understanding of the people challenges faced by the organisation.


What you will do

  • Bring people and development expertise to develop and deliver solutions to help the organisation deliver its strategy
  • Influence and build relationships with senior leadership and other stakeholders to understand people and development challenges within the organisation
  • Coach and provide feedback to key stakeholders to help provide business efficiency
  • Work collaboratively with people and development business partners to connect our capabilities to feed into and deliver the people plan.
  • Work closely with business leaders to enhance workforce performance, develop people solutions and provide guidance on all people activity, such as people planning and restructures.
  • Provide advice and support, on complex people issues, to leaders on people policy, procedures, and employee relations, ensuring our approach is legally compliant, fair and consistent. This will include the management of employee relations casework.
  • Work with the senior people and development business partner to ensure that change is successfully managed and embedded.
  • Manage, support and coach direct reports and others in the team in a way that inspires, develops, motivates, and engages them.
  • Maintain own CPD ensuring an uptodate knowledge of people trends and work with others to share resources and good practice.
  • Generate insight from data and evidence, to produce people management information to inform people plans, projects and decision making.
  • Highlight and escalate risk in relation to all people matters, identifying suitable actions for mitigation.

Your skills, knowledge and experience

  • Experience in providing proactive, generalist human resources advice and support including recruitment and selection.
  • Experience of supporting line managers including the management of change and employee relations challenges.
  • A human resources qualification or be willing undertake a qualification in this role.
  • An ability to work independently and enthusiastically, taking responsibility for timely delivery of objectives
  • The ability to analyse statistics and data to produce effective management reporting information.
  • Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to create and present clear, wellstructured policies and reports.
  • Excellent oral and listening skills with the ability to make sound and considered decisions and judgements.
  • Evidence of instilling confidence and credibility when dealing with sensitive, challenging and difficult situations.
  • A strong team player, capable of developing effective relationships at all levels within our organisation.
  • A demonstrable commitment to inclusion and diversity.

  • Job type: Permanent, full time.
  • Salary: £45,462 per year, rising to £47,682 per year after successful completion of a 6month probationary period.
  • Location: Sheffield/hybrid remote.
