The Team

The Student Recruitment and Widening Participation Team (SRWP) play an integral role in recruiting students to the University as well as providing high-level impartial advice and support to students from underrepresented groups with HE.

They deliver large-scale onsite recruitment events such as Open Days and Summer Schools and are the face of the University at external events such as UCAS Fairs and School and College CEAIG events.

The team consists of 12 staff members and a large number of Student Ambassadors.

The Role
The Graduate Intern (Widening Participation) role requires the post-holder to contribute to the delivery of key widening participation projects.

They will attend external events at Schools and Colleges, where they may need to deliver presentations and workshops, working with underrepresented groups within HE.

They will support the Recruitment Team through attending large-scale recruitment events across the UK.

In addition, they will maintain positive relationships with internal stakeholders across the entire University and external stakeholders such as Teachers and Careers Staff, and contribute towards the delivery of successful onsite visits from Schools and Colleges.

The role will require travel across the UK and occasional weekend and evening work, as well as overnight stays in hotels.

The post-holder must have a full driving license and be willing to drive hire cars.

Required Skills and Experience
The post-holder must be a competent presenter, enthusiastic and able to motivate and inspire others.

They will be creative and able to contribute ideas for presentations, workshops and games that will interest students and help them to make informed decisions about university.

They must be able to follow instructions and be competent administratively. They should have experience of working with young people.
