Be part of building Scotland's future:
The medical device manufacturer looking to increase production to meet export demand. The fabricator moving into the renewables sector. Or the food producer considering investing in automation and looking for the opportunities that continuous improvement can bring.

This is just a taste of the work you'll do when you join us at SMAS - the Scottish Manufacturing Advisory Service.

And it's just a glimpse of the difference you'll make, across a wide range of Scottish businesses.

The role:

We have two roles:
one in Aberdeen, the other in Dundee.

However, you'll be part of something bigger:
SMAS is delivered by Scottish Enterprise, Scotland's national economic development agency. We cover the whole of Scotland, including Highlands and Islands Enterprise and South of Scotland Enterprise areas.

You'll be on the frontline, working directly with manufacturing businesses, guiding them through immediate tactical questions as well as long-term strategic change.

That means working with them to adopt new technologies and improve supply chains and internal processes. But the essence of the role goes far deeper.

Join, and you'll identify the challenge-behind-the-challenge to find opportunities for improvement that don't simply move a business forward, but help transform it.

All to create a more productive, more sustainable Scotland.

But your reach doesn't stop there. You'll work with our Scottish Enterprise colleagues to support leadership ambition, produce market development strategies and identify global opportunities.

Who we're looking for:

You're an experienced manufacturing specialist passionate about delivering a productive, sustainable, inclusive, and fair economy. More importantly, you have a burning desire to share your knowledge to help others succeed.

An effective team player who can work across a wide range of businesses, you'll bring people management and influencing skills.

Taking companies on an improvement journey can often last months, or even years - it will be your enthusiasm and tenacity that guides them through.

You'll bring experience in the manufacturing industry, preferably in a leadership role.

Whether you're keen to share your wealth of experience, or looking to develop your career further, this role offers variety that's unheard-of working in-house - as well as broad scope for personal development.

And although the role is based in Aberdeen and Dundee, you'll travel throughout Scotland - you'll need a full driver's licence and access to a car.
