Leeds Beckett University is looking to recruit a high calibre Associate Director of Degree Apprenticeships following a successful recent Ofsted inspection outcome.

Leeds Beckett University is a major provider of degree apprenticeships, offering one of the largest and most comprehensive portfolios of awards in the region.

The new Associate Director will play a pivotal role in leading the continued growth and development of the provision, working closely with senior colleagues across the university.


The postholder will report to the Pro Vice Chancellor Business Engagement, and will be responsible for leading the university's provision of apprenticeships through the development, agreement, and execution of a new strategic plan.

You will professionally lead and implement organisational policy and practices across the university's apprenticeship provision, working closely with the relevant School Heads of Degree Apprenticeships to ensure we consistently deliver measurably high-quality apprenticeship programmes and outcomes.


You will be accountable for apprenticeship funding, programme risk, performance, compliance, and quality across the university, and to deliver the growth to meet the plan.

You will manage within resource capacity and capability limits to ensure the university is able to meet quality and compliance requirements.

The postholder will work closely with key stakeholders within schools, to ensure the university achieves the quality standards set by external bodies such as ESFA, IfATE, Ofsted and the Office for Students, whilst, achieving our key performance indicators.

The postholder is responsible for line managing the central apprenticeship team within the University.


You should have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent, and significant professional experience in a similar role, with the ability to operate effectively at a senior level in a large complex organisation.

In addition, you should have a successful track record of negotiation and influencing, both internally and externally including employers, and professional bodies.

You will be required to possess a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Apprenticeships including the regulatory and funding frameworks, along with a track record in external business development and relationship management.

Experience of an established record of teaching and professional practice is desirable.
