We are seeking a part time Health Care Assistant to work in our Coronary Care Unit working23.5hours per week.
The unit is modern with 11 beds and cares for acutely unwell patients with cardiac conditions, both male and female, you will be working alongside some very experienced registered nurses and offering them support with patient care, the unit is located next to a modern cardiac catheter lab and cares for patients pre and post procedure, there may be occasions that you are asked to assist in the recovery area of the catheter lab.
The role will require you to work across all areas in the Trust which includes those that are designated as positive, asymptomatic and negative COVID wards.
Function as a team member of the Multidisciplinary Team by assisting the Registered Nurse in the delivery of effective high quality patient care.

Key results from the job holder
Planning and Organisational Duties
- Participate in meetings and handover to discuss patients progress and care
- Monitor and maintain stock level on ward / department.
- Undertake errand duties which include;
- Transporting specimens
- Collecting instruments / drugs
- Collecting case notes as required
- Assist in the preparation of patient case notes as required
- To communicate effectively with all members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe and high quality care is provided to all patients
- Maintain effective working relationships with ward colleagues particularly those highlighted within the organisational chart above
- To be aware of the need for cost effective use of resources when delivering the service
- Liaise with Estates and Works Departments in respect of all maintenance issues
- Check the ward has sufficient stock to meet the patient and staff needs
- Complete daily checking of equipment and returning of equipment to loan store.
- Adhere to Trust Policies, Procedures and Guidelines
- Ensure compliance with Mandatory training requirements in accordance with Trust Polic
Compliance with the Health & Safety at Work Act the post holder is required to fulfil a proactive role towards the management of risk in all of their actions.
This entails the risk assessment of all situations, the taking of appropriate actions and reporting of all incidents, near misses and hazards, and a statutory duty of care for their own personal safety and that of others who may be affected by their acts or omissions.
Responsibility for Teaching- Attend mandatory training as directed by Trus
- Shifts of 6 or 12 hours to include nights and weekends. Rosters are planned and released six weeks in advance.
