JOB PURPOSE:

The post holder will be responsible for delivering family support services to Special Guardians.

As a key position within the Family Placements Service, the post holder will be responsible for providing some direct work with special guardianship families who need specialist advice and support and also undertake outreach work to make sure that the support offer is known by all Leicestershire Special Guardians.

The post holder will also be a key source of information on national adoption support policies and practices for Leicestershire County Council's staff working in adoption support.


ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:


  • Educated to A level Or equivalent
  • Knowledge of the Adoption Support Fund and how this can to utilised to support families where there are support needs post order.
  • Specific knowledge / experience / understanding of post adoption support/ post order support issues unique to families who are caring for children with a care experiences and trauma backgrounds
  • Experience of working within health, education, or looked after children setting
  • Knowledge of the Adoption Support Fund and how this can to utilised to support families where there are support needs post order.
  • Ability to work under own initiative as well as be a strong team player
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritise workload
  • Ability to communicate well and work in partnership with a range of national and regional partners/stakeholders on multiple workstreams and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work with sensitive and confidential issues.
  • The capacity to understand and to empathise with the issues of concern for special guardians and adoptive families, while also having the ability to remain objective and to put in place appropriate boundaries around personal/professional experience
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults
