Job summary:

This job role will be in the Learning Design and Delivery location of Hastings.


Our people and teams are based in various locations across the UK mainland therefore this role will involve regular travel and on occasion overnight stays.

The role may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in their DWP office and part of the week from home.

This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and your office will be your contractual place of work.

The number of days that anyone will be able to work at home will be determined primarily by business need.

If you are successful, any opportunities for hybrid working will be discussed with you prior to taking up your post.

Please be aware that this role can only be worked in the UK and not overseas.


The role we have sits within DWP's People, Capability and Place Group (PC and P), in the Learning Design and Delivery Deputy Directorate.

It offers an excellent opportunity to deliver a wide range of learning initiatives, using leadership and stakeholder management skills in building confidence in our business operating model.


Job description:

This is an opportunity to join a team within Learning Design and Delivery.

We provide a wide range of support to the Capability, Leadership and Talent business area, People, Capability and Place and Service Delivery.


What will you be doing?


Learning Delivery Leaders lead large geographically dispersed teams of Learning Delivery Officers who deliver both skills and technical learning across DWP.

Setting the right environment for your team to thrive, you will ensure your team members are supported with their wellbeing and capability build.

You will inspire and motivate your team to deliver to often challenging demands, encouraging a solution focused approach and encouraging a continuously learning mindset.


Working collaboratively with colleagues particularly across Planning and Design teams, ensuring forward thinking of appropriate actions taken to ensure your teams have the capability to deliver.

Building excellent local stakeholder relationships, you will anticipate and resolve issues to ensure our customer expectations are met.


You will assure the quality of the learning delivery events delivered either virtually or face to face, providing meaningful feedback and supporting your team members to build their skills and knowledge to enable delivery to all DWP learners.

Leadership skills - Excellent leadership and organisational skills, ensuring you and your team have a clear understanding of objectives, activities, and timeframes and are flexible and resilient in your approach whilst working at pace and leading through others to deliver against multiple priorities. You will look for opportunities to share knowledge across other areas of the business and encourage others to do the same

You will be able to clearly explain reasons for change to colleagues and how they can implement them, ensuing you support individuals with different needs to adapt to change.
