Maintenance Supervisor

Role and Responsibilities:


  • Ensuring equipment is maintained, repaired and replaced to the highest standard and the plant up time meets the required KPI 95%;
  • To Supervise a team of Maintenance technicians, Engineers, Maintenance support team leaders and process Operators;
  • To Monitor and inspect all maintenance work is carried out in accordance with the planned maintenance systems.
  • Assisting the management team to implement change positively, effectively managing strong and weak performance, identifying training needs and providing training and feedback through completing one to one reviews, appraisals, team meetings and coaching.
  • To assist in the Control of maintenance and site service subcontractors; Working closely with the operational team to deliver operational targets and drive process improvement;
  • Completion of risk assessments and work based method statements to ensure that maintenance health and safety is of highest standard and legally compliant;
  • Maintaining open lines of communication with the equipment manufacturer and other key suppliers;
  • Control of sites maintenance stock. Planning and issuing parts and to monitor, review and report on departmental expenditure.
  • Assisting the Operations manager to ensure full compliance is met for all relevant legislations including, Health and safety at work act, Company's accreditation to recognized integrated management systems (ISOs) and environmental standards are achieved;
  • Ensure that day to day the Operations Team is sufficiently supported to meet operational objectives;
  • Driving continuous improvement in maintenance related tasks, including use of root cause analysis where relevant, and to identify defect trends;
  • Ensuring real asset is maintained to the required standards;
  • Monitoring Staff attendance, lateness and performance issues reporting issues to the Operations Manager;
  • Monitoring and challenging staff clocking;
  • Ensuring aspects of Operational and noise management plans are adhered to at all times;
  • Conducting investigations in line with Disciplinary and health & Safety policies;
  • Attend / Deliver daily team briefings;
  • Observation and support of the night shifts, ensuring consistency throughout the shifts;
  • To maintain housekeeping of defined areas to appropriate gmp / 5s and best practice systems;
  • Undertaking any other duties to meet ongoing needs of the organisation in line with training and capabilities

Personal Specification:


  • Previous experience using mobile plant essential;
  • Previous experience working in the waste and recycling sector beneficial;
  • Good people skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a multiskilled workforce and direct reports;
  • Good communication skills, written and oral;
  • Dynamic and tenacious approach;

Hours of work:

Monday to Friday 8 am-5 pm
