The job itself:

A vacancy has arisen within the in-house Highways Teams at the Market Weighton depot.

The Highway maintenance teams deliver the day-to-day maintenance of the highway and footway networks within the East Riding.


We seek reliable, hardworking and enthusiastic individuals, to join our successful team in the delivery of a range of projects.

From small scale patching, drainage and footway repairs to county wide surfacing and surface dressing operations, together with general highway construction and maintenance works.


The Highways Team have a strong 'can do' attitude which is focussed on delivering high standards of work to all highway users.


A full, clean driving licence is essential, preferably with Category C1 entitlement. Should you not have the Category C1 entitlement or above. There will be the requirement to undertake the HGV medical within the six-month probationary period of employment.


You will work a standard 37-hour week from Monday to Friday, plus an additional 2 hours per week of contractual overtime.

Additional overtime is also worked on a planned basis, with the potential to increase the basic salary (£23,032 including contractual overtime) up to around £27,600 per year.

The Highways Department also provides a Highways out of hours emergency standby service throughout the year.

This service is to attend emergency situations which occur on the Highway network outside of normal working hours, and you may be called upon to participate in this standby rota.
