At Octopus Energy Heating we're developing a home heating revolution through innovative heat pumps which will significantly reduce reliance on fossil fuels and bring a cleaner more sustainable world. As a
Technical Product Owner at Octopus, you will lead the development of our innovative products from concept to commercialization.

You will collaborate closely with our R&D team, as well as production, to define product requirements, prioritize features, and drive the execution of our product roadmap.


What you'll do:


  • Product Strategy: Work with senior leadership and stakeholders to define the product vision, strategy, and roadmap. Align R&D efforts with business goals and market needs.
  • Requirements Gathering: Collaborate with R&D engineers, and designers to define product requirements and specifications based on market research, customer feedback, and technology trends.
  • Feature Prioritization: Prioritize features and enhancements based on technical feasibility, business value, and customer impact. Maintain a prioritized product backlog and communicate priorities to the R&D team.
  • Crossfunctional Collaboration: Work closely with crossfunctional teams, including R&D, engineering, marketing, and sales, to ensure alignment and seamless execution of product initiatives.
  • Project Management: Lead the planning, execution, and monitoring of R&D projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks that may impact project timelines or product quality. Develop contingency plans and alternative approaches as needed.
  • Technology Evaluation: Stay informed about emerging technologies and industry trends relevant to our products. Evaluate new technologies and assess their potential for integration into our product roadmap.
  • Commercialization: Work closely with the commercialization team to transition R&D projects from development to production. Ensure a smooth handover and provide ongoing support as needed.

What you'll need:


  • Degree in a relevant field such as Engineering or related discipline.
  • Proven experience in product management, R&D, or technical project leadership roles within a researchdriven environment.
  • Strong technical background with a deep understanding of scientific principles, experimental design, and R&D methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with crossfunctional teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership and decisionmaking skills, with a focus on driving results and achieving goals.
  • Experience working in a fastpaced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities and deadlines.
  • Knowledge of heating products is desired but not required
