Description
This role is specific to reserving, but will involve touchpoints with aggregations, pricing and capital model parameterisation. The role will assist MINT in achieving consistent underwriting profit with timely and accurate analysis of business performance.
This will require the development of strong relationships with key individuals in other departments and to remain up to date with claims and underwriting activity


Key Responsibilites:

  • SQL database support for our sole current expert and training provision for the rest of the team.
  • Igloo (reserving software) model development and testing support
  • Support for the integration of new policy administrations systems data into the actuarial process for triangulation production and reporting.
  • Repatriation of triangulation production to a central controlled IT tool with explanation, documentation and parallel test support.
  • Enhanced methods within our reserving model. This will include adapting and improving on existing methods for large loss estimates, machine learning reserving to triage focus areas and specific IBNR claims reporting.
  • Reserving model reporting updates. This will include improved Annual Actual versus Expected reporting, enhanced analysis tool speed, enhanced legal entity reporting, benchmark data integration, subclass analysis and reporting improvements.
  • Solvency II Technical Provisions calculation and reporting modifications.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Be a graduate, having completed a numerical degree with a classification of 2:1 or above, or equivalent
  • Be able to demonstrate knowledge of the London General Insurance Market
  • Have excellent IT skills especially Excel, VBA and SQL. Intermediate Igloo skills are desirable.
  • Display excellent analytical skills. Specific data analytics experience would be beneficial.
  • Be comfortable presenting to groups of actuaries on technical content in layman's terms.
  • Be able to demonstrate both problem solving and data visualization skills.
