Role overview:
Our business partnering function sits at the heart of our People function.

The team play a central role in enabling all our people and teams to excel, and shape projects that will take Genius to the next level.


Whilst we expect you to be based within reach of our London office (so you are close to your key stakeholders and are able to join us for team events), the role has a truly global focus, and you will partner with the People team and wider business to shape and implement our People strategy.


Main responsibilities:
We expect the role to focus on the following key areas:


  • People strategy and roadmap. Work with key stakeholders in your business areas to assess key People needs and contribute towards a practical, effective People roadmap to support the wider business strategy. Always have an eye to scalability, implementing best practice that can be effectively adapted and rolled out across other areas of the business. Lead on initiatives such as d&i, mental wellbeing to enhance the overall employee experience.

Business partnering. Build strong, trusted relationships with key stakeholders. Have a thorough understanding of the business area you support including business priorities, direction and financial aspects. Provide coaching, advice and practical support to managers at all levels in your functions, and act as a key link between the People team and the wider business. Have oversight of employee relations matters in your business area(s) and partner with People Operations to ensure that they are resolved pragmatically, efficiently and cost-effectively, leading on sensitive/higher-value issues and liaising with stakeholders (management, legal counsel etc) in a collegiate and effective way.

Change management. Work with stakeholders to advise on, manage and implement key organisational change projects and people initiatives, such as integrating acquisitions, outsourcing, reorganisations etc. Understand and provide advice on the psychological aspects of change on behaviour and on any legal ramifications. Advocate for the positive aspects of change, and equip managers and leaders with the skills to engage and bring their team with them through change. Lead and manage larger change projects in your area through strong relationships from an early stage to really drive the direction of the project.

Performance and development. Work with stakeholders and our Group Learning & Training Partner to embed a true performance culture throughout the business (through performance management, goal setting, competency frameworks, career pathways etc). Be an effective coach and sounding board who can equip managers to inspire top performance across their teams. Understand what people processes the business area already has in place and adapt these with a view of streamlining and/or reflecting best practice. Drive positive improvement throughout all areas of the business, being unafraid to really delve into the inner workings and to implement positive change.

  • Smart, effective and commercial, with the experience and pragmatism to drive positive change to meet the commercial needs of the business. Resilient and comfortable in a fast-moving, fluid environment.
  • Excellent at building relationships. Able to effectively work with and gain the trust of stakeholders at all levels throughout the organization a team player with credibility and a sense of humour.
  • Strong communication skills: clear, accurate and to the point, both verbally and in writing. Versatile in your approach, able to deal with a range of smart and questioning stakeholders with their own needs.
  • A cool head and flexible approach, able to manage rapidlydeveloping situations and business priorities. Proactive, cando attitude, willing to get stuck in and take charge of tasks big or small.
  • Demonstrable track record in:
- successful partnering with senior stakeholders to understand needs and deliver innovative, effective solutions that are scaleable in a global and divisionally complex business;
- leading projects and effectively implementing organisational chan
