  • The Student Funding team manage a wide range of scholarship, bursary and hardship fund schemes, including those offered as part of the Access & Participation Agreement with OFS, as well as Erasmus funding_
- and all US Federal Loan and Student Loans Company interactions. The team offers information, advice and guidance to both prospective and current students, and deal with a high number of stakeholders, both internal and external._

About the Role

Senior Managers have operational responsibility for a defined portfolio of education and student professional services, as:
a departmental lead within the Students and Education Directorate; or

project/programme/departmental lead within an academic faculty; or

the lead of defined divisional-wide initiatives

Senior Managers work within and across teams and functions, engaging with a wide range of colleagues across King's. They contribute and lead on activities which positively impact the student experience.


This includes ensuring:
Close working with their Associate Director, and across organisational boundaries, to identify and action opportunities to improve efficiency and consistency of service (or project) delivery

Efficient resource utilisation and organisation of work resources within their department (or project)

Proactive engagement with service users and stakeholders to facilitate mutually effective working relationships

Their department (or project) embeds a culture of service, transparency and continuous improvement


Senior Managers will have an understanding of the priorities, cultures and pressures of a research-led university and of academic processes and the structure of the academic year.


  • The Student Funding Office is seeking an experienced HE professional for the role of Student Funding Senior Manager._ _This is a new post to consolidate the responsibility for scholarships administration across all cohorts UG and PGT into the Student Funding function._
  • The role will be busy and varied, including responsibility for a wide range of funding schemes and business processes. The Head of Student Funding will manage a team of eight staff._
*We are looking for an individual who shares our aspirations and our values, who is comfortable working strategically and operationally, who can deliver support and services to students and other stakeholders and who is equipped to work in a high volume, complex and fast paced environment.

This is currently a hybrid working role with both work from home and on campus. The role will be based in our department, currently on the Waterloo campus.

This post will be offered on an Indefinite Contract.

Key responsibilities

Service of the Studentships Committee and provide plans and updates on progress, identifying any risks or issues.


Lead, motivate and develop a team, managing the activities of colleagues and key stakeholders to ensure deliverables are completed effectively.


Work closely with colleagues and stakeholders to ensure we are optimising the benefits available via existing schemes and maximising any future opportunities.

Contribute to university-wide projects using specialist knowledge and/or lead short-term projects within own department. Ability to work with others to deliver strategic objectives and overcome challenges.

Develop, document and establish business processes and procedures for obtaining and managing all relevant data. Lead on identifying opportunities for operational improvements and ensure these improvements are delivered.

Initiate and manage the implementation of strategies and service improvements to ensure the adoption of new business processes. Ensure they are well tested, analysed, and communicated, and that stakeholders are appropriately trained and engaged.
