Lambeth Tree Services - Tree Planting Programme Officer

PO2:
Starting salary £39,612 pa rising in annual increments to £42,510 per annum incl LW

**_Fixed Term Contract or Secondment Opportunity until March 2026
- **Lambeth Council has ambitious plans to plant over 5,000 trees within the borough by the beginning of 2026. This role is to oversee delivery of this and other tree planting projects as part of Lambeth's Net Zero Carbon Programme working closely with colleagues within the Tree Service, wider council, residents and businesses within the borough.


The Tree Planting Programme Officer will be responsible for all aspects of tree planting projects from procurement, to reporting, to overseeing on the ground delivery as well as looking for additional funding opportunities to increase Lambeth's tree stock even further.

You will have proven experience of project management, working on significant projects in public realm landscapes or equivalent. Three years of experience working with trees or in the arboricultural or landscape industry would be advantageous.


You will have experience of managing contractors using best practice principles including supplier relationship management, preparing complex reports and ensuring service delivery on time, on budget and to specification and performance requirements.


The post holder will be a skilled communicator with a positive track record of building trusting and pro-active relationships and the ability to engage a range of audiences including residents, partners and stakeholders.


The post holder will be responsible for initiating, planning, co-ordinating, implementing and monitoring tree planting projects, in accordance with health & safety and tree works legislation and with council policy.

The post holder will source funding opportunities for the programme and promote the active participation of the public, working closely with residents, community groups, businesses, charities, sponsors, and third-party organisations.
