About the Role:


We are looking for a Self-employed Support Worker to provide support to a male adult with a diagnosis of autism and a physical disability.

The role will primarily entail accompanying him on shopping trips to varying local areas and assisting with light domestic chores.

All applicants must have a full driving licence and use of a car.


Hourly Rate - £16.50 (self-employed applicants only)

Day & Times - Weekly, Saturdays 10am-1pm

The role will primarily entail accompanying him on shopping trips to varying local areas and assisting with light domestic chores.


Responsibilities:
Accompany the individual on shopping trips to various local areas, ensuring a comfortable and supportive environment.
Assist with selecting items during shopping trips, taking into account preferences and dietary requirements.
Provide guidance and support during interactions with others in public settings, helping to navigate social situations.
Perform light domestic chores such as tidying up living spaces, organizing belongings, and light cleaning tasks.

Maintain a respectful and understanding attitude towards the individual's needs and preferences, ensuring a positive and supportive environment at all times.

Communicate effectively with the individual, his two main family carers, and to ensure continuity of care and consistency in support.


Requirements:
Previous experience in providing support to individuals with autism or similar developmental conditions is preferred.
Compassionate and patient demeanour, with a genuine interest in providing support and assistance to others.
Ability to adapt to changing situations and environments, remaining calm and composed under pressure.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal, with the ability to effectively interact with individuals with diverse needs.
Reliable and punctual, with the flexibility to accommodate varying schedules and preferences.

Understanding of basic principles of autism and familiarity with strategies for providing effective support and assistanceAbout the individual:


The male adult is a remarkable individual with a heart of gold, a keen wit, and a diagnosis of autism alongside a physical disability.

Despite these challenges, his intellect shines brightly, often captivating others with his conversations. His kind and compassionate nature is evident in every interaction, enriched by his delightful sense of humour.

The individual finds solace in quieter environments due to his aversion to noise, yet his eagerness to connect with others remains undiminished.

He thrives on building relationships slowly, finding comfort in the warmth of those who demonstrate kindness, patience, and a genuine interest in him.

He has a passion for wildlife, reading and is a member of MENSA.


Rate of pay:

The individual must be self-employed and will be paid an hourly rate of £16.50.


Hours of work:

Weekly, Saturday Mornings 10-1pm.


Social duties:


Support to:
Accompany the individual on shopping trips to various local areas, ensuring a comfortable and supportive environment.

Perform light domestic chores such as tidying up living spaces, organizing belongings, and light cleaning tasks

Personal Care:

No personal care will be necessary.


Domestic duties:


Light household duties, to include:
Vacuuming (hoovering) floors and carpets.
Cleaning surfaces such as countertops, tables, and shelves.
Tidying up living spaces, organizing belongings, and maintaining an orderly environment.

Demonstrates understanding and sensitivity towards the unique needs and experiences of the individual they will be working with.
