Role Summary:


To assist the Finance Director and Financial Controller in the running of the finance department delivering strong financial support to heads of department across the business.

To ensure all financial information is transparent clearly reported, with analysis and commentary to support effective timely decision making.

Prepare monthly reporting packs, quarterly board packs

Ensure Financial Risks and Opportunities are captured and reported monthly liaising as required with the Governance and Procurement Manager.


Key responsibilities and main tasks and activities:

  • Business partnering with heads and departments, driving communication & meaningful reporting
  • Lead and support the procurement process with all budget holders, ensure procurement practice complies with procurement policy.
  • Be a Finance system champion
  • Deliver training on financial systems & processes where needed to enhance adherence to finance policy and to onboard new team members.
  • Driving collaboration across finance & the entire organisation.
  • Building effective relationships with nonfinance budget holders, giving support on systems, processes, regulations and compliance
  • Responsibility for the production & distribution of Monthly Management Accounting Information to stakeholders
  • Support and be a key driver of budgeting & forecasting process
  • Produce analysis & research, both for finance & with nonfinance stakeholders
  • Creating plans, models, and analysis for stakeholders, with focus on risks and opportunities, supporting management and mitigation.
  • Assisting in creation of tools to produce forecasts, budgets & projections.
  • Providing commentary and analysis on monthly management accounts, income & expenditure statements, balance sheets & cashflow
  • Performing critical evaluation of business cases, including introductions of new programmes.
  • Evaluate new projects from an ROI, NPV perspective and draft proposals for submission to the FRAC

Skills and knowledge:


  • Highly organised with the ability to work under pressure and to meet strict deadlines.
  • Strong communicator at all levels
  • Analytical and problemsolving skills
  • Be keen to learn new skills
  • A strong understanding of UK Sport and Sport England reporting requirements and financial control.
  • Desirable not essential
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering financial information with excellent attention to detail
  • Good understanding of costing principals
  • Familiar with commercial tender processes to support tender activity driven by Procurement and Departmental heads.
  • Able to investigate key operational deviations and financial variances to set financial targets
  • Able to develop reporting dash boards and related models for wider business
  • IT proficient with advanced Excel skills
  • Must be a qualified accountant from a recognised professional body
  • ACA, CIMA, ACCA, CIPFA

£40,000 - £45,000 depending on experiance


Hours:

We're all about output so we have Hybrid working and flexible hours in place - it's a full-time role hours per week), but we understand that people have lives outside of Badminton England - please talk to us about what you need. We can't promise anything, but we're open to a discussion about how we can support you.

The current hybrid working arrangements are at least 3 days a week in the office (with the core day being Thursday) at National Badminton Centre, Milton Keynes
