Temporary Works Design Engineering Manager


Job Title:


  • Engineering Manager

Reports to:
This position reports to the Head of Temporary Works Engineering.

The company:
Market leading Temporary works and Ground engineering solutions company operating or over 25 years.

They work with tier one main contractor and specialist civil engineering and demolition contractors throughout the UK on flagship projects.

Purpose of the Role

Responsible for the success and efficient running of major projects carried out by the Engineering Group.


Responsibilities:




  • Manage, organise and lead activities on a daytoday basis within your office.



  • To schedule and manage the engineering resources inorder to develop design solutions on time and to the required quality.



  • To identify and implement workflows and efficiencies to improve on project management, design process and company practice.



  • To communicate with Bid teams, Fabrication teams, Logistics / Operations teams for practical delivery of design solutions, ensuring their requirements are adequately accounted for in the design process.



  • Communicate with external designers, ensuring works are scoped, communicated, and appropriate documentation is received.






  • Development of staff.






  • Working with and coordinating internal departments and subcontractors to meet deadlines on multiple jobs




  • Oversee the design and checking of temporary works schemes, ensure all output is in accordance with company procedures and requirements of CDM 2015.




  • Proactively work with clients to establish efficient sequencing and value engineered solutions.




  • Ensure that all health and safety regulations are observed throughout.
Experience Required




  • Experience of working on construction projects and methods of construction, in particular temporary works.




  • Minimum IEng or equivalent additional years? experience required




  • Understanding of the different methods of temporary excavation support, design of geotechnical structures and design of steel structures




  • Project management experience.




  • Experience in management of site teams and customer expectations.




  • Ability to read and work with plans/drawings.




  • Knowledge of CAD & IT systems. Able to sketch / draw ideas.




  • Understanding Temporary Works with BS 5975
