Are you a recent Civil Engineering or Quantity Surveying Graduate, interested in joining a Pre-Construction Team?:
Our Midlands work-winning team, (based out of our Regional Milton Keynes office) tender projects from £1m-£35m for a variety of clients, sectors, and regions.
Careys are well established within our core markets, typically acting as specialist sub-contractor on sub and super-structure, hard & soft landscaping, and enabling & infrastructure works.
Your practical and/or technical expertise will allow you to embed yourself within our experienced and collaborative work-winning team and further progress your estimating career.
To support you in this development role, you will be enrolled onto the Project Controls Level 3 course/apprenticeship at London Metropolitan College, where you will grow your network amongst other aspiring Project Control professionals, and enable you to explore opportunities to gain chartered membership to a Professional body.
Whilst your predominant focus will be on tendering projects within the Midlands region (M1 corridor from Milton Keynes to Birmingham/West Midlands and Oxford to Birmingham M40 corridor), you may occasionally support projects within the London/South East, North of England and Scotland regions.
What to Expect:
As a Graduate Estimator, you will be working closely with the Estimator, Planner, and Pre-Construction Manager as we tender for a range of prestigious civil engineering projects.
You will help to produce high-quality bids, identify and evaluate risk and opportunities, and develop value-engineered solutions for clients within a department that secures continued work and growth for the company.
- Review and understand the scope of works, drawings, specifications, and programme
- Measuring & 'Taking-Off' quantities from drawings
- Identify potential value engineering solutions
- Prepare rates for each item within the BOQ from first principles
- Contribute to tender reports in preparation for tender adjudication
- Produce risk and opportunity registers
- Attend pre & post contract reviews and client meetings
- Take part in and encourage knowledge sharing and upskilling across the team
About You:
- Degree in Civil Engineering/ or Quantity Surveying
- Strong Communication skills, factual and professional
- Collaborative able to work well in a team particularly when approaching deadlines
- Precise, deliberate, and able to work well under pressure
- Comfortable in clientfacing meetings, able to convey 'big picture theories and ideas with ease
