Aztec West, Bristol (Hybrid). The typical working arrangement is 3 days per week in the office with flexible working from home for the remaining 2 days. The role may at times require travel to the suppliers in UK and even internationally.

This is an excellent opportunity to join EDF as a Supply Chain Inspection Lead and join one of the most exciting and challenging projects within EDF, as we continue to lead the rebirth of nuclear in the UK.
Supply Chain Inspection lead is a key role within the Hinkley Point C (HPC) assurance organisation, Internal Nuclear Regulation.

If successful you will be responsible for independently inspecting manufacturing facilities and overseeing implementation of technical, quality and supply chain management arrangements.

Your main focus will be on assuring the effectiveness of supplier's performance on and off HPC site and the end-quality of the equipment delivered.

You will contribute to the Internal Regulation function's on-going monitoring of the project's health through quarterly and annual review cycles.

What you'll be doing
You will independently inspect and assess the arrangements and controls associated with the HPC manufacturing supply chain.

Use your insights from the inspection activities to make recommendations that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the supply chain and the quality of the end product.


A secondary objective is to ensure the robustness of the organisation and its compliance with regulations, international standards and internal policies.

You will not have any direct management responsibilities but will be required to deputise for the Supply Chain Inspection Manager, as required.

May be required to lead small teams of assessors during group inspection activities.

Some of the day to day tasks will include but not limited to the below;

  • Provide inspection and challenge of practices and processes across the HPC supply chain for manufacturing, including organisational arrangements, processes and procedures, contracts, surveillance and assessment programmes.
  • Analyse the outputs from various sources (including inspections, assessments, audits, organisational learning events, regulatory inspections, etc.) to provide a view of the effectiveness of processes across the equipment supply chain, and adherence to the licence conditions.
  • Record and report findings, recommendations and learning from the inspection activities through the Supply Chain Inspection Manager to the Safety and Regulation Director.
  • Monitor the business's ongoing response to the recommendations in terms of effectiveness and closeout.
  • Develop relationships and networks to understand the arrangements and activities within the HPC supply chain, in order to ensure that inspection activities are targeted appropriately, considering risk and benefit.
  • Use your expertise to identify further risk areas to be explored as part of the Supply Chain Inspection Team's scope.

Who you are

  • Degree qualified in an engineering, science or commercial disciplines or equivalent experience.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to act alone, or lead teams in inspection and review activities
  • Effective presentation and communication at all levels
  • Ability to identify and influence variety of stakeholders (including senior decision makers)
  • Understanding of riskbased decision making
  • Experience of working in compliance setting or responsibility for identifying/ driving improvements
  • Strong understanding and practical experience of quality arrangements required in UK regulated environment
