Square Peg Associates are working with an international manufacturing company with over 750 staff that are looking for a Head of HR to join them.


You'll be required to build strong relationships with senior stakeholders based in East Lancashire across multiple divisions from Head Office functions to Health & Safety and ISO Quality Management.


The Head of Human Resources is a fantastic role for an experienced HR Leader who can work at strategic and operational level incorporating multiple projects concurrently.

We require a HR professional who is preferably from a manufacturing background, and comfortable challenging, bringing ideas to the table but understands the need for patience in a dynamic and innovative firm.

This role will suit someone with experience in a product led business with a similar staffing level staff).


The role will involve providing strategic counselling to the Production Leadership Team on various Human Resources topics to support moving the business forward.

The person in this position is responsible for overseeing the Senior Teams responsible for H&S and ISO, therefore knowledge and understanding is key.

Ensure that policies are applied in a consistent manner to ensure reduction of risk for the company and the employee.

Provide independent insight into the impact of such initiatives on personnel.


Lead the development, dissemination and interpretation of personnel policies and their implementation at the site, providing consultation to the management team on leadership initiatives.

Drive forward workforce planning, Human Resource and Communications initiatives with the assistance from the positive and driven HR Team.


Responsibilities will include:

  • Provide accurate guidance in order to support, influence and challenge as appropriate and in line with HR policies
  • Identify needs for change management and champion related activities
  • Work with hiring managers and HR teams on recruitment needs for the business
  • Support Senior Management with retention and employee engagement strategies
  • Drive a performance culture through identifying & facilitating development targets and initiatives, as well as coaching managers on any performance issues
  • Project management and implementation of a variety of HR initiatives
  • Support talent, mobility and succession planning
  • Have at least 5 years of experience in the manufacturing sector, ideally working closely with the MD and company Directors in a HR leadership role
  • Have a solutionorientated mindset
  • Be flexible and have a problemsolving character
  • Have experience working with stakeholders at Senior Manager level and Heads of Department
  • Have very strong analytical skills
  • Be able to demonstrate experience in managing leaders within HR, H&S and ISO
  • Confident decisionmaking qualities
