We have an exciting opportunity for Clinical Coders to join our experienced team on a hybrid working basis.

Working across a range of specialties our Clinical Coders provide an expert Clinical Coding service for all 37 Nuffield Health hospitals.


Our coding team has a broad range of experience and includes an Experienced Approved Clinical Coding Trainer and two Approved Clinical Coding Auditors providing full audit, validation, and training support.


These Hybrid roles are predominantly home-based but there is an expectation to work occasionally from Nuffield Health sites, flexibility will be required to travel to meetings when necessary.


As our Clinical Coder you will:
Provide a Clinical Coding service for all 37 Nuffield Health hospitals.
Assign ICD-10 and OPCS-4 codes to hospital episodes covering NHS and privately funded activity.
Access various information systems, e.g. pathology/radiology, to obtain further information to ensure completeness and accuracy of coding for a wide range of clinical specialties.
Escalate any issues to the Team Leader or Clinical Coding Manager, when appropriate.


To succeed as a Clinical Coder, you will need:
Experience of working in a clinical coding department
Accredited Clinical Coder (ACC) status or be actively working towards achieving this within the next 18 months.
Experienced in the use of ICD-10 and OPCS-4 coding classifications
Good knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology
Ability to work independently and as a member of a larger/virtual team
Competent and confident to work primarily remotely, with the flexibility to travel to Nuffield Health sites when required.
