We have an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong background in machining and additive manufacturing with experience of CAD CAM software.

We are looking for a CNC Operator to join and help grow our applied research capability.

You will be working in our new state-of-the art facility at Samlesbury, Lancashire, in a well-connected team with world-leading reputations in the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre.


The AMRC is part of Sheffield university offering the Total Reward Package, with excellent benefits including hybrid working arrangement with a flexible 35 hour week, 27 days annual leave (plus 8 bank holidays and additional 3 days during Christmas shutdown) and a pension scheme with 21.6% employer contribution.


This role will be based in the area of Operations within the AMRC Northwest facility, you will take responsibility for all machining and additive manufacturing elements of a variety of research and development projects.

This will include the programming of machines on various technology development projects.

An important aspect of the role will be the positive, innovative and motivated approach to your work whilst ensuring current projects are delivered successfully.


You will:


  • Be educated to degree level (or equivalent industrial experience).
  • Have a proven track record of technical delivery when leading development projects.
  • Have a substantive knowledge of machining and additive manufacturing technologies
