Clarity are once again delighted to be supporting our client, a growing and established Accountancy firm based in Camberley as they seek a new permanent member of staff to join the team as a Management Accounts Assistant.

Our client provides advice and accounting solutions to help entrepreneurial and high growth businesses. The business services and outsourcing team are essential to meeting their clients' evolving requirements.


Main Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Preparation of management accounts using tech enabled tools for a variety of businesses. This will account for about two thirds of the role.
  • Managing the accounts inbox, dealing with queries, processing of purchase invoices, bank reconciliations, receipting of sales invoices, processing expense claims, prepare and process journals including payroll, and other ad hoc advisory services.
  • Prepare VAT returns, understanding VAT requirements, concepts and calculations.
  • Strong understanding of key control account postings and reconciliations/treatments around income, fixed assets, payroll, accruals and prepayments.
  • Setting up new clients on the bookkeeping system and registering VAT schemes with HMRC.
  • Prepare the year end accounting files and ensure they are complete, with back up schedules to support balance sheet figures.
  • Adhoc advisory services
  • Maintain and build relationships with clients and ensure that all communications are conducted in a professional manner.
  • Prepare draft business tax computations.
  • Ability to become a champion in specialist areas eg software packages, VAT, new client setup etc.

Qualifications and Systems Experience:


  • Knowledge of Quickbooks, Sage L50, excel based cash books, IRIS (ideally), Word,
  • Good knowledge of Outlook/Microsoft packages
  • Highly IT literate. Proficient in short cuts in various softwares. Able to adapt quickly to new software and navigate between screens and platforms proficiently.
  • AAT level 4 qualification (or QBE)

Relevant Experience:


  • Managing a portfolio of bookkeeping clients with a good knowledge of the VAT rules on what can and cannot be claimed as well as being proficient in VAT return preparation and submission.
  • Previous experience working in an accounts department or 'outsourced' finance function where regular contact is needed with suppliers and customers (and your clients if applicable) managing all aspects of the day to day bookkeeping including managing theaccounts in box, purchase and sales ledgers, credit control and bank reconciliations.
  • Must have worked with a variety of software and be used to switching between clients and platforms whilst maintaining an exceptionally high degree of accuracy.
  • Experience gained in public practice (ideally).
