An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Surgical, Anaesthetic and Cancer (SAC) Division for Advanced Care Practitioner/ Surgical Care Practitioner for Breast Care.


This post is managerially and professionally responsible to the Head of Nursing/ Deputy Head of Nursing and Lead Clinician for Breast and will work closely with the Breast team including other ACPs, CNSs, Breast Surgeons, Oncologists and Radiologists.


  • This role may required cross site working*You will provide professional and expert clinical advice for breast care across the Trust including St Albans City Hospital with the occasional travel to Watford General Hospital.

You will demonstrate excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills to contribute effectively to multi-disciplinary team working. You should have significant experience in the field of surgery, particularly breast.

This post is 12 months fixed term post with the potential to extend to two years.


There has never been a more exciting time to join West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust Major redevelopment works are planned as part of the New Hospital Programme.

These will be most dramatic at Watford General Hospital where up to 90% of buildings will be new.

  • The purpose of this post is to provide professional and expert clinical advice for Breast Care across all hospital sites including:
  • St Albans City Hospital but required to Travel to Watford General
  • Management of defined caseload at advanced level, be autonomous in the management of a designated case load (benign and malignant
  • Rapid Diagnostic clini
  • New Family History referral
  • Family History and routine follow up clinics
  • Breast pain clinic
  • To clinically assess and be accountable for own caseload of patients autonomously, including medical history taking, clinical examination of the breast patient, independently assessing health and wellbeing need of the individua
