£42,104 per annum


37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year
As our
Head of Department - Apprenticeships, you
will support the Commercial Director and the Executive Team to provide management, leadership, and guidance across the apprenticeship curriculum and to provide learning experiences that ensure high achievement for all apprentices, through exemplary practice in learning, teaching, and assessment

Responsibilities of our
Head of Department - Apprenticeships:

  • Ensuring the apprenticeship offer is commercially focused and meets the local needs of the region, employers, and stakeholders
  • Nurturing and enhancing employer relationships alongside the Head of Employer Engagement to strategically grow the apprenticeship provision
  • Ensuring Apprenticeship funding rules, policy and guidance are implemented with a robust approach to compliance controls
  • Working closely with the link Outstanding Practitioners, lead on the annual selfassessment of the department and subsequent quality improvement plan to ensure quality improvement KPIs are met
  • Ensuring Data and information systems are used to accurately reflect performance and objectives
  • Accountable for the accuracy and completeness of published information for provision within the department and assisting in the arrangement and implementation of curriculum marketing and associated events in conjunction with the Head of Marketing
  • Ensuring that staff meet deadlines to record data and information in an accurate and timely manner, including offthejob logging, registers, assessments, quality reviews and standardisations, results, and student progress

What we're looking for in our
Head of Department - Apprenticeships:

  • Qualified to Level 5 or equivalent professional qualification or willing to work towards
  • Evidence of commitment to personal development and continuous improvement
  • Minimum level 2 in Maths and English
  • Proven and current Good or Outstanding leader in Apprenticeship provision
  • Experience in planning and delivery of Curriculum across a range of programmes
  • Experience of managing key employer relationships and commercially facing partnerships
  • Knowledge of major curriculum changes and government policy in relation to Apprenticeship funding
  • Knowledge of the apprenticeship standards and endpoint assessment


  • Experience of OFSTED

  • Education Inspection Framework
  • Experience of leading a team to achieve good to outstanding outcomes for learners
The position requires flexibility, enthusiasm, and willingness to "go the extra mile" for our learners. Most important is a commitment to the student journey and adding value to their experience at College.


The ability to inspire learners is essential as well as being able to work as part of a small established team of sports/Public Services tutors.

A Post Graduate Teaching or Education Qualification or Certificate in Education is not essential however, you must be willing to work towards a teaching qualification.
