Part Time 21.6 hours, Fixed Term until 31 December 2025
This is a fantastic opportunity to join the conservation team on the programme.

The Gulf History and Arabic Science Project Conservator is responsible for undertaking the assessment, preparation and practical conservation of items from the Library's collections selected for digitisation as part of the project, to provide training in handling and general use and care of the collections and to liaise with colleagues and other conservation professionals on proposed conservation treatments.

You will workin a team of three Conservators and are co-located the wider project team.


You will have recent practical hands-on experience in the conservation of books and/or paper-based items and an understanding of digitisation methods and workflow.

You will have experience working with historic collections, excellent communication, organisational and planning skills with the ability to work well under pressure and prioritise workload to meet deadlines.

A strong commitment to developing your understanding of our archives relating to the Gulf and Arabic Science and expanding your knowledge of conservation of this material is also essential.
