Engineering Supervisor
Purpose of the position
To organise and control all plant maintenance activities at the site to ensure plant reliability, a safe place of work and an orderly and well-maintained environment.
Principal responsibilities
Ensure all plant on site is regularly maintained through management of resources (people & plant) by use of Planned Maintenance on SAP
Provide defect maintenance service which will ensure that faulty plant and equipment will be rectified as quickly as possible.
Maintain safe working practices, including strict control of Permit to Work system thereby ensuring that internal maintenance team and 3rd party contractors carry out work in a safe manner
Control of costs to the maintenance budget
Maximise productivity through supervision of the workforce
Provide technical support into the resolution of plant problems
Involvement in accident investigation and reporting to maximise knowledge of causes and therefore enhance ability to prevent recurrence
Departmental safety responsibilities, ensuring actions are completed.
Engage and control of contractors for mechanical, instrument, electrical and civil work without scope of internal maintenance team.
Lead local SHEQ and Business Improvement Teams which feed into the Branch SHEQ Committee and focus on specific SHEQ or business issues.
Strive for improvement in all operations at the site by:Maximising productivity of the maintenance function
Providing major input into the resolution of plant problems
Initiating and executing improvement projects
Reducing of losses of gases and raw materials and use of energy on site
Complete management of small projects to the company standards

- Proven track record in managing and motivating personnel to develop their skills and encourage their participation.
- Good written and verbal communicator
- City & Guilds equivalent time served in Mechanical, Electrical or Instrument disciplines
(MECHANICALLY BIASED WOULD BE ADVANTAGEOUS) - IOSH safety management
- Experience of manmanagement. Good communication skills
- Knowledge of appropriate regulatory and legislative requirements to the role
- Significant experience of industrial plant maintenance
- Knowledge of relevant computer systems
