Description

Based at Arrowe Park Hospital, this is the only Emergency Department on the Wirral.

It provides 24 hours facilities for the care of the acutely ill and injured for a population of approximately 400,000.

Approximately 96,000 new patients are seen annually. Arrowe Park Hospital is one of the Major Trauma Units of Merseyside Trauma Network.

There are also several NHS Walk-in Centres and Minor Injury Units on the Wirral with which the department closely cooperates.

The department works closely with primary care services on site and operates a single front door for walk in adult patients.

Cerner Millennium an award-winning state of the art IT system for patient management and administration. This system has advanced capabilities to support and manage patient flow and to enhance clinical decision making. It is fully integrated with the Trust's laboratory and radiology systems. It is also used to communicate to General Practitioners and to view in-patient discharge letters and outpatient letters.
