Please note this is a part time post and the salary for this position will be pro-rata.


Job Purpose
Provide comprehensive administrative support to a team of clinicians, enabling clinicians to operate effectively and efficiently. Work in accordance with standard operating procedures.

  • Provide a high standard of secretarial and administrative cover to a multidisciplinary regional service to ensure efficiency in patient care.
  • Assist with regional Vascular patient coordination, ensuring patients are reviewed timeously.
  • Collate information for and update the National Vascular Registry.
  • Assist in the organisation and management of outpatient and return waiting lists.
  • To book and notify patients of clinic appointments, both written and verbally.
  • Deal with telephone and face to face enquiries from all staff groups, patients, relatives, carers, providing information, directing and prioritising queries as appropriate, to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery
  • Adhoc duties as required including the provision of cover during periods of leave within the vascular admin and clerical team

Knowledge, Training and/or Experience Required

  • SVQ level 2 qualification (or equivalent experience) plus at least 2 years experience in healthcare administration or at least 3 years experience in a secretarial role
  • Understanding of medical terminology
  • Evidence of effective team working and dealing with change
  • Evidence of strong communication skills with patients, clinicians and colleagues.
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Evidence of strong competence with relevant IT systems
  • Audio typing skills
