The People Directorate is here to shape the Bank's people strategy, provide information, help and advice to colleagues and line managers to thrive in their roles, and to deliver important people services across the Bank.


The directorate is made up of five teams:
Culture, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion; Employee Relations; People Operations; Talent Acquisition and Development, and Reward.

Our work helps the Bank to attract, identify, develop, nurture, retain and motivate the people we need to fulfil our mission.


This is an exciting new opportunity to join our friendly People Directorate team at the beginning of a transformation programme to build a modern and professional service as part of the Bank's Central Services programme - CS 2025.


People Operations

:


The Operations Team provides an efficient and effective service to operationalise all of the People polices, meaning we work very closely with the other People teams.

People Operations covers a range of activities including payroll & benefits, security vetting, Future Talent recruitment, on-boarding of new joiners to the Bank, network account setup for all Joiners Movers Leavers (JML), immigration and Right To Work checks, induction and training, workplace adjustments, and community support.

Our knowledge and expertise provides operational insight to policy drafts and ideas with such specific topics including national security infrastructure and changes, payroll and tax (including Off Payroll Worker - IR35) and immigration.


Department Overview

The JML Services team is a key function of People Operations who manage the day-to-day activities related to Future Talent Support, Recruitment Operations and JML Access. In summary their work covers supporting the recruitment and development of new joiners to schemes such as graduates, interns and apprentices; on-boarding of all joiners to the Bank whether permanent, fixed-term contract, agency or contingent worker; and setting up/handling network accounts for all joiners, movers and leavers.

Job description
This is a people management role. You will be responsible for day to day management of the team and for defining roles and responsibilities.

You will develop your team through sharing information effectively, coaching and communicating a clear vision to ensure that your staff are productive, engaged and motivated to deliver the area's aims.

This will include setting clear goals and smart stretching objectives that are aligned to those of the team, division and directorate.

You will also be responsible for managing all staff-related matters that may arise including performance, absence and sickness.


An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Team Leader in the future talent support team, this is an excellent role for someone with great leadership skills and who is an outstanding teammate They and their team will provide business support to Future Talent scheme leads in People Directorate, coordinate Bank representation at careers fairs and plan/facilitate the delivery of various cohort assessment centres e.g., Graduates, Interns, Apprenticeships.


The Team Leader plays a vital role in continuous process improvement, validating documentation, streamlining, and optimising effort and time e.g., utilise the summer months to plan for the next recruitment round starting in the autumn.

They will also play an active role in the various scheme's recruitment round, through being an Assessor and / or Facilitator.

Being involved in the overall process provides a unique insight into the Banks future talent programme and a greater understanding of the challenges and opportunities the team is faced with.

This can be a fast-paced environment with conflicting priorities at times, so will suit someone who can use their initiative, is able to be reactive to the situation at hand and provide excellent service to customers


The role holder(s) will be responsible for

:


  • Managing processes and workload to ensure that all elements of the programmes are delivered to a good standard and within the agreed timeframe.
  • Mentoring and supporting colleagues within the team.
  • Establishing objectives and career plans for direct reports.
  • Carry out Interim and full end year performance reviews.
  • Carry out regular 121s, which build good and open relationship
