Jackson Hogg are looking to recruit a HR Officer on a part time basis for a fantastic growing manufacturing company based in Trimdon.


Reporting to the Managing Director the HR Officer is responsible for developing and leading the HR functions and supporting and promoting the team culture and company values.

The role will involve working closely with the Management team to ensure a consistent and brilliant approach to managing people, and will help continuously improve the HR systems and tools needed to support growth.


Key responsibilities

  • Manage the induction and onboarding process and provide advice and guidance to line managers through probation periods as required.
  • Support line managers with investigations and hearings for disciplinary, capability and grievances.
  • Produce notes and draft invite and outcome letters.
  • Carry out exit interviews with leavers and feedback issues and ideas as required.
  • Provide guidance and support to employees and line managers in relation to maternity, paternity, adoption and shared parental leave.
  • Provide support and guidance to managers on training and appraisals.
  • Source cost effective training for the company, and ensure training is evaluated to effectively measure return on investment.
  • Introduce and manage apprenticeship programme.
  • Assist with coaching managers when challenging employee issues or situations arise.
  • Support managers with staff absences including short and longterm absences, and engage with occupational health where necessary.
  • Develop and lead improvements to the Absence Management system.
  • Regularly report on absence information, identifying trends and ways to limit absenteeism.
  • Work with the Management Team to deliver a company wellbeing programme.
  • Support and develop the Sustainability Management System, with particular focus on the Social Sustainability pillar.
  • Work with legal and other consultants to ensure compliance. Update systems and procedures to reflects business needs and new legislation.
  • All matters related to employee data protection in line with GDPR.
  • Ad hoc reconciliations and analysis of data as required.

Person specification

  • CIPD Level 3 Foundation Certificate in people practice is desirable.
  • Previous experience of working in a HR role at a similar level, within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven success with recruitment and selection.
  • Highly organised with an attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Fantastic communication skills.
  • Able to negotiate and influence.
  • Trustworthy, works with integrity.
  • Excellent relationship building skills.
  • Able to balance being wellliked with making or supporting difficult decisions.
