An exciting opportunity is available for a Housing Solutions Officer to work with Manchester City Council


Contract:
Initially until 31/03/2023, with possible extension


Location:
Town Hall Extension, Albert Square


Hours: 35 per week. - 4:30 Monday to Friday

As a Housing Solutions Officer based with the Inreach/ Outreach Team, you will work to deliver the Council's statutory duties in regard to the Homeless Reduction Act You will work with people with a wide variety of needs to help them in finding anew home when this becomes necessary.


The role of a Housing Solutions Officer is a customer focussed service supporting people who can be facing many challenges.

You need a resilient and empathic approach with strong negotiation and conciliation skills, to support applicants in finding a realisticsolution to their housing problem.


You will provide a responsive service that could range from the provision of advice, guidance, and support, to the provision of emergency accommodation for people at immediate risk.

The work is challenging, and you will need to take a strengths-based approachwhen assessing individual needs. Working with applicants to support and advise them and assist in resolving their housing needs.


Although primarily based at the Town Hall, you may be required to deliver the service in a variety of community locations or from within partner organisations as required.

You will also undertake visits to people who are in ABEN and other accommodation,or at their bedding down site.


KeyResponsibilities

  • Deliver high quality support for service users, managing existing and future risks through assessment, and creating plans which ensure the individual needs of service users are appropriately considered.
  • Assist service users to engage with support services provided by both statutory and voluntary agencies, ensuring that the client is appropriately supported and therefore able to contribute actively to the community.
  • Provide advice and expertise to partner agencies and stakeholders to promote the service and represent the rights and needs of the vulnerable residents of Manchester
  • Use background knowledge to help upskill the team regarding associated housing legislation, and any specialisations from their professional background.
