Luton (Hybrid working - One day from home and the other from the office)

Hours: 35 hours per week
Salary:
£24,819 - £25,783 Per Annum DOE (Salary includes market supplement)

We are looking for a
Project Coordinator to join our
Luton Refugee Support team.
Reporting to the Refugee Support Service Manager, you will ensure the provision of high-quality, person-centred, advice and advocacy support for people in a range of complex and crisis related situations in the Luton area.

For this group living in limbo, without government support they can be particularly vulnerable and at risk of experiencing destitution.
You'll take a holistic approach to supporting these individuals, by providing clients with short-term casework support. This could involve directing clients for help with their asylum cases or basic essentials, or building strong working relationships with local agencies and charities operating in the local area where individuals can be referred to for further assistance (e.g. access to accommodation)
This is a rewarding role, requiring excellent advocacy and communication skills, the ability to work sensitively and remain calm under pressure.
Meet the team
The Refugee Support service works closely with sector partners to support and meet the needs of asylum seekers and refugees in Luton and the surrounding area.
The service provides practical and emotional support to vulnerable refugees and asylum seekers in the region, most of whom are experiencing destitution.
You will work closely alongside fellow casework and project coordinators as part of a diverse and dynamic operational team.This role might be for you if...
- You've got experience delivering casework with vulnerable clients (ideally within the asylum support system), and you're able to effectively advocate on behalf of clients to realise their rights and entitlements.
- You have an understanding of issues relating to refugees, asylum seekers and other vulnerable migrants
- You're able to support, manage and develop volunteers
- You're a team player; you're able to work as part of a team within what can sometimes be a highpressure environment. You will have experience of crossagency partnership and collaborative working too.
- You're a great communicator with the ability to adapt your communication based on the audience.
- You have experience providing sensitive, safe and empowering support to distressed people in vulnerable situations
