Shipping (Import/ Export) Officer

Salary - £30k to £33k DOE

Role - 100% office base

Seeking ashipping officer to join a fast growing leading UK Fashion company. The business is looking to groworganicallyThe business is profitable and expecting a very exciting period of growth. This role will be responsible for managing the day today shipping functions and reporting to General Manager.

Responsibilities:


  • Arrange haulage with shipping line/air/road cargo carriers
  • Coordinate the importation and/or exportation via sea, air or road
  • Deal with HMRC and Agents for Bonded Warehouse queries.
  • Take requests and queries and resolve them effectively and efficiently
  • Using internal systems to create documentation that will enable freight to be moved to customer specifications, on time with all the necessary customs and legal documentation, including:
  • Creating and updating freight bookings
  • Collate all documents and distribute them to customers and carriers, as required
  • Preparing, processing and checking of invoices within specified deadlines
  • Ensure requests and queries are resolved and actioned quickly and efficiently
  • Accurate & timely reporting
What you'll need to succeed

  • Must have Bonded Warehouse Experience
  • Must have experience of booking and arranging of transport via ocean, air, road multimodal imports/exports.
  • Must have knowledge of dealing with Deferment Account.
  • A clear understanding of how duty/VAT is calculated and customs payment methods
  • Experience in the creating of, checking of and processing of all relevant importation OR exportation documentation
  • Good verbal and written communication, to provide a professional image to customers and suppliers
  • The ability to prioritise tasks to ensure accuracy and deliver results with great attention to detail and a high sense of urgency
