CNC Engineering Technician

Department

  • Machine Shop

Main Purpose To produce high quality parts to required standards, and timescales, and to assist in the introduction and development of productivity improvements within the department, supporting Production Engineering.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Supervise Tornos Deco/Delta & Star CNC processes with regard to optimizing work flow, correct batch sizes, and utilisation of staff/unmanned running.
  • Set, operate and, programme CNC machine tools.
  • Use a variety of machinery and equipment as required.
  • Take lead responsibility for driving Lean/SMED activities in CNC section.
  • Carry out work to close limits, read and assess drawings, and inspect to company standards using appropriate equipment.
  • Take lead responsibility for the optimisation of CNC & CAD/CAM processes.
  • Support Production Engineering in the introduction & development of new tooling & equipment.
  • Support department staff in fault diagnosis and resolution on CNC production processes.
  • Train staff on CNC equipment and processes when required.
  • Carry out routine equipment maintenance as required.
  • Assist Production Engineering with new parts routing planning and time studies for CNC processes.
  • Assist Manager with staff development plans and maintenance of Skills matrix.
  • Liaise with Machine shop planner for routing and run rate changes, and process improvements.

You will be expected to carry out other duties as required that are commensurate with your position in the company and your skill level.
