Description

To support the paediatric spinal deformity service to deliver highly specialised care to the child and family that require spinal surgery.


This care will be in an in-patient setting on ward 5 or ward 15 annex at the Birmingham Childrens hospital site and as an out-patient setting at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital (ROH) NHS Trust and Birmingham Children's Hospital.


The post holder will support good symptom management, emotional support and access to appropriate services and advice, providing specialist knowledge and advice and an understanding of the issues relating to the treatment management for the client group.


You will undertake specialist clinical assessments that are required for the child and family and will work in collaboration with the spinal consultants and other members of the multi-professional team to assess, plan and implement effective transition through the spinal care pathway.


The post holder will plan, manage, and organise their own specialist workload in accordance with local protocols for spinal deformity patients.

The post holder will work within the surgical division in the spinal deformity service.


The multi-professional team is based at Birmingham Children's Hospital for pre-admission and in-patient care and The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital for out-patient care.

You will offer advice in the speciality of spinal deformity, which supports health professionals, patients and carers.


Work in collaboration/support the other clinical nurses in the service and the trusts, this will involve working in the clinical ward areas and outpatient's settings.
