Description
Building Safety Inspector required for a new, permanent role in County Durham. This is a full-time role and is within social housing, covering stock across the county.

The Role
Provide advice and guidance on property-related Health and Safety technical matters and related issues;
Provide relevant training, sourced either internally or externally as appropriate, in conjunction with Human Resources; maintain appropriate records of such training;

Undertake audits and inspection work and checks on contractors, consultants, and partners, as directed by the Works Manager, verifying whether established Health and Safety requirements are being met.

Follow up recommendations to ensure that these are addressed ;

Provide support to the Works Manager to fulfil statutory obligations in respect of health and safety in the communal areas of properties, including: Regular inspections to identify issues under the Housing Health & Safety Rating System; Annual (minimum) fire risk assessments; Annual asbestos management re-inspections; Maintaining full and accurate records of inspections and their outcomes and identifying corrective action plans to resolve any identified issues and seeing these through to completion.

Provide support to the Works Manager to fulfil statutory obligations in respect of asbestos management, including: Commissioning asbestos management; refurbishment and demolition surveys at domestic and commercial properties and maintaining records of completed surveys on Keystone and successor systems

Contribute to routine and exception reporting on Health and Safety matters to Senior Management Team, Board and Committees

Ensure that any matters that arise in relation to safeguarding adults at risk, children and young people are reported immediately via the appropriate Safeguarding Procedure

Follow the principles of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and undertake learning and development, as may be required by the role

Experience
Applicants must be able to demonstrate relevant experience and the following qualifications:4 GCSE's grade A-C/4-9 (or equivalent) including English Language and Maths

Remuneration
£31,251 per annum + £1,370 Car Allowance.
