An exciting role has become available in our busy Financial Transactions Team. You will be required to undertake a range of duties, with the key objective of supporting Adults Social Services.


The role involves the processing of invoices and payments to care providers by means of direct invoice input, and file upload via the council's provider portal.


You will be allocated individual service user accounts on a monthly basis to carry out annual reconciliation of social care contributions and process refunds or supplementary charges where necessary.

You will carry out regular reconciliation of Direct Payment Accounts for Adults Social Care service users.

Once trained, we offer home working, with current requirement to work from West Offices approx. 2 days per week, to deal with post, issuing pre-paid cards, and other admin tasks as required.


The Transactions team work closely with Adults Social Care Teams, and Customer Accounts Team to answer charging/payments queries from outside customers and care providers.

You should be numerate, and familiar and confident at using excel spreadsheets. You should also be familiar with Microsoft Word, Outlook and Teams.


You will be expected to deal with vulnerable customers, often at stressful times in their lives, therefore you should have excellent customer service skills, and be able to deal with queries in a confident and efficient manner.

We also support Children's Social Services by processing weekly payments for Foster/Adoption allowance to carers and parents. We undertake financial assessments and regular reviews to calculate their weekly allowance payable.

You will be provided with on-the-job training for all tasks required.

As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C2: Can express him/herself spontaneously at length with a natural conversational flow, avoiding or backtracking around any difficulty so smoothly that the person with whom they are conversing is hardly aware of it.

Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role.

Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.
