An exciting opportunity has arisen for a clinical leadership role in our occupational therapy team across Gloucestershire community hospitals. This is a unique career opportunity to professionally lead the Occupational Teams within the Trusts 6 Community Hospitals. Each hospital is led by a matron working with a highly-skilled and dedicated MDT team.

The community hospitals are a 7 day service and the post-holder will be expected to support the 7 day functioning of the sites, within a core hours approach.

This role will support the seamless transition of care for patients from hospital to community services and help enable effective discharge pathways and positive risk culture.

The post holder will have a countywide remit and will be required to travel to all community hospital sites.


They will need to demonstrate:
A driven and innovative leadership style. The ability to make confident decisions in clinical rehabilitation and discharge planning. Collaborative working with operational leads and colleagues and the wider patient pathway onward into community services.

You will have the opportunity to develop as a clinical leader working closely with Heads of Profession and Hospital Matrons on professional issues and lead on quality, safety, education and innovation through a quality improvement approach.

We are seeking a creative, bold leader who can help stretch our thinking, implement evidence to practice and deliver outstanding care.


  • To provide clinical, professional leadership and expertise for your profession within the Community Hospitals, providing profession specific advice and support and direct clinical decision making (patient and service specific) on all relevant matters to ensure the quality of services provided.
  • To work in clinical facing practice, role modelling exemplary care and assuring high standards of professional practice are maintained.
  • To work in partnership as part of the Community Hospitals Operational Team to ensure high quality clinical care is delivered operationally.
  • To work effectively across the Community Hospitals with a countywide perspective and ensure all staff adhere to their Professional Code of Conduct as a registered professional.
  • In collaboration with the Matrons and Professional Head of Service to ensure alignment of professional priorities with organisational priorities and core business.
  • To support a positive culture of development, growth and progression within the organisation. To embed values, holism and integrated working. Collaborating with the management team and other Professional Leads to ensure high quality care delivery
  • To be an expert, role model and mentor to colleagues in your profession
