Description
To deliver professional, impartial, enabling and outcome focused support to survivors of acquired brain injury who attend Headway Gloucestershire's Enablement Service.
To provide support for clients with complex needs to support their recovery, wellbeing, independence and autonomy.About Headway Gloucestershire
Headway Gloucestershire was established in 1988 and since then has been working to make a positive difference to the lives of adult survivors of brain injury.
We provide specialist recovery support and respite through our centre-based Enablement Service and outreach support through our Community Links service.
About the role
Our centre-based Enablement Service is the heart of Headway Gloucestershire.
Open every weekday, we offer activities that focus on the five elements of rehabilitation: emotional functioning; cognitive functioning; learning; social interaction and behaviour.
This takes the form of a structured timetable so that survivors of brain injury can select the activities that help them work towards their own unique recovery goals.
We work one to one and also employ a group format to harness the unique recovery benefits of peer contact and support.
During the pandemic, we evolved our services to include the provision of remote support. This includes staffing a helpline, making welfare calls, tailoring activity packs and hosting activities on a digital platform. This has been essential during times of heightened risk and for members of our community who are shielding.
You will join a dynamic team of staff and volunteers and work with them to provide a tailored, enabling and outcome focused support service to adult survivors of acquired brain injury.
You will work alongside survivors as they adapt and come to terms with the physical, sensory, cognitive and emotional changes that injury can bring.
Each survivor who attends our centre identifies their own recovery goals and selects activities from our programme that will help them work towards those goals.
You will work under the direction of the Enablement Manager to deliver tailored support, to safeguard and promote the wellbeing, independence and autonomy of survivors accessing the service.
Full training provided.
