About the role
We are looking to recruit a Refuge Support Worker on a full time basis, for our Domestic Violence Emergency Accommodation in Birmingham.

About You
We are looking for an empathic, highly motivated, energetic, and experienced individual to join our diverse staff team to deliver a quality service provision to vulnerable adults and their children.
You will be responsible for looking after service users and supporting them with their daily requirements and the day to day running of the refuge accommodation and building functions.
- You will have sound knowledge and understanding of Domestic Violence and Abuse and the impact on the customer and their children.
- Familiar with other Services in the Birmingham area which can provide additional support for your customer and you must be able to communicate and advocate effectively with other professional on behalf of your customer.
- You will monitor customers health and wellbeing alerting relevant bodies should there be any change that could create a safeguarding concern.
- Support individuals with life skills, to better manage their finances by reducing debt and increasing income
- Signpost customers to relevant sources of support, for additional guidance and advise.
- Provide crisis intervention where necessary to prevent customer situation escalating.
- Be fully aware of any issues that may affect customer wellbeing e.g. homelessness, domestic abuse, drug, and alcohol addiction
- Provide a flexible service and where necessary work across all refuge sites
- Always operate in a personcentred and professional manner
- Work with customers to prepare them for their own homes and risk assess for any safety measures that will need to be in place.
- Competent in use of IT and DATA Systems, keeping files updated.
- Work on a rotated Helpline to take referrals coming into refuge and complete DASH Risk Assessment must have good knowledge of MARAC protocols and Safeguarding arrangement
- Manage time, workload, and caseload effectively.
