Employability Tutor


Location:
Tresham College (Wellingborough and Corby Campus)

Contract type:
Fixed-term; September 2024 to August 2026

Hours of work: 21 hours, 3 days per week, term-time only


Salary:
£25,961 FTE

BACKGROUND


Northampton Saints Rugby Football Club was formed in 1880, when Reverend Samuel Wathen Wigg identified rugby as a way to channel the energies of some of the county's more troubled youngsters.

More than 140 years on, Northampton Saints Foundation continues his legacy, using the power of sport and the values of rugby to INSPIRE, SUPPORT and EDUCATE thousands of people each year.

Our education and social inclusion programmes inspire the current generation to learn, develop new skills, increase confidence and where appropriate return to education, training or employment.


ROLE

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Planning, teaching and assessment on our employability programme based at Tresham College (Wellingborough and Corby Campus) ensuring high quality and holistic learning.
  • Maintaining positive relationships with the team at Tresham College
  • Planning a range of curriculum of activities, including enrichment and sporting activities to reengage vulnerable young people, whilst creating progression routes for all students on programme, supporting them to identify their next steps in education, training or employment.
  • To monitor and review the curriculum and effectiveness of programmes at the foundation maintaining an innovative approach to the curriculum.
  • To positively understand and embed the foundations vision and values into planning and delivery of 16+ programmes.
  • Supporting young people at their individual, family or agency meetings as required.
  • Actively promote Equality & Diversity and Safeguarding ensuring these principles are included into all teaching and learning.
  • To ensure high standards of health, safety and behaviour control whilst delivering Foundation programmes.
  • Ensuring quality assurance and continuous development across employability programmes.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • GCSE Maths & English Grade 4 or above (or equivalent)
  • A recognised teaching qualification is essential (Minimum level 3 in Education and Training or equivalent)
  • Level 2 Safeguarding (Desirable)
  • Team Teach (Desirable)
  • First Aid 3 days (Desirable)
  • Mental Health First Aid (Desirable)
  • Prevent Training (Desirable)

KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES

  • Ability to communicate and conduct professional relationships with children, young people, and adults.
  • Ability to build strong relationships, work as a team as well as using your own initiative.
  • Committed to demonstrating the highest standards to our young people to inspire them to success.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of child protection and safeguarding protocols.
  • Experience and knowledge of level 2 qualifications, the marking and outcome requirements.
  • Experience of working with young people, ideally those from challenging backgrounds, with the ability to inspire success and support needs.
  • Excellent behaviour management and organisational skills.
  • Positive mindset, reliable and resilient.

OTHER
A full, clean driving license is essential.
