Job Introduction

The starting salary for this role is £36,282 per annum, working 36 hours per week.
Are you looking for a new opportunity to develop your experience in supporting the operations of a large and busy Commissioning team?

If you can effectively work with others, are data savvy and experienced in delivering sustained improvements, you may want to consider this role of Business Operations Officer and join our team.

You will have a key role in monitoring and managing all operations across the directorate, including the oversight of contracts and their performance against budgets, delivery targets and expected outcomes.

Working closely with Commissioners, you will bring essential insights to support them in achieving their commissioning priorities and will provide oversight and management support of important tools such as the Directorate's Business Plan, Forward Procurement Plan and Contract Register.

Principal responsibilities
Responsible for enabling proactive and joined-up operations and communication with CFLC commissioners and providers across the directorate portfolio, your main responsibilities will be:

  • Contract register maintenance. This includes working with commissioners to ensure they understand and gain integral insight into providers and delivery of contracts, and making sure robust plans are put in place for de-commissioning and transformation of contracts.
  • Business plan, forward plan calendar and annual procurement forward plan oversight and maintenance.
  • Inflation Management. This includes the maintenance of tools such as the Inflation & Fee Uplift Tracker, Process Documents for panel meeting preparation and chairing the panel itself.
Our work evolves continually - all team members, therefore, need to be adaptable. Other duties appropriate to the post may be assigned from time to time.

Person specification

  • That you are a people person, thriving on developing productive working relationships with our internal teams and external partners. You'll have strong interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on diplomacy and empathy.
  • Your attention to detail and analytical skills to interpret and present data and draw conclusions.
  • That you are highly organised, able to stay on top of multiple competing priorities, with a proactive and creative approach to managing your work, using your own initiative.
  • That you have excellent IT skills and proficiency using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Tableau skills are welcomed but are not essential.
  • That you enjoy problemsolving in new, complex, and sometimes ambiguous, environments where both creativity and pragmatism are required.

At Surrey, our values and behaviours are just as important as our skills and abilities. They shape who we are as an organisation. Find out more about the values we follow.
