About the role:


We are seeking a
Mechanical Technician to cover the Crawley and Dorking area to ensure that all equipment at our sewage treatment works is running safely and efficiently using proactive and reactive maintenance methods.


Day to day duties willinclude:

  • Investigating plant failures and carrying out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible in order to avoid interruptions to the process. This may involve investigating and diagnosing complex faults and carrying out repairs during incidents
  • Carrying out scheduled planned maintenance work on mechanical equipment in compliance with company procedures to minimize plant breakdowns.
  • Providing technical advice to the wider team, referring to uptodate technical knowledge, and providing training or support for technical trainees if required.
  • Using technical equipment such as various pumps, automatic valves and penstocks.

To be successful you will have the following skills and experience:

  • You should have significant experience in mechanical systems. Minimum of ONC/HNC in engineering, NVQ or C&G level 3 in mechanical engineering.
  • Ideally you will have been upskilled with a mechanical qualification to allow inspecting, maintaining, fault diagnosing, testing, installing, modifying or repairing mechanical plant equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Knowledge and awareness of health and safety policies and processes are essential.
  • The work will require physical fitness as you could be asked to work in confined spaces with the appropriate training provided.
  • A valid driving licence is essential.
  • You will need to undertake rolespecific training to fulfil any safety and team competency requirements.
